If possible take along the dog's bed or bedding. This might be difficult for larger dogs. If your dog goes for many away nights from home, start them out with a blanket that can easily be packed if your dog is a large breed.

Pack the dog's favorite toys, usual feeding bowl and water dish. When the dog is around these items, it will help build their security in the new environment.

Be sure to include your dog's favorite feed and snacks. The caregiver might not have a type you approve of on hand. If a friend or family member is watching your dog, it's not fair to expect them to supply feed and treats unless you are paying for it.

Pack a list of emergency numbers and the veterinarian you use, just in case. Also leave a list of any dietary restrictions or other problems that your dog might have. We carry pet emergency tablets.
